Welcome to Macabee Knives I started smithing in 1989 with the help and teachings of Thomas Powers. I grew up in apartments in a large city and didn't have much in the way of tool skills. Thanks to a desire for banging on metal and a patient teacher I managed to learn some tool skills and the ability to produce the knives you see on this web site.

You will find that all of the knives in these pages are one of a kind. Each one is made personally by myself. I prefer forging as it's a lot more fun and allows better control and conservation of the steel. However I also make some knives from the stock removal method meaning I grind them to shape. I only use high carbon steel for my knives such as O-1, 1095, 5160. I also forge my own Damascus and cable Damascus. The handles are made from a variety of materials such as bone, natural and laminated woods, poly-resins and ancient ivory.
